Marisa Cordeiro was born in Brazil and moved to Chicago in 1991. She founded Gingarte Capoeira with the objective of bringing the Brazilian martial art of capoeira and other cultural performing arts to the Chicago land area. She has dedicated over 30 years to the teaching of high-quality classes and presenting extraordinary cultural arts performances amounting, in this, manner, great experience both as a teacher and a performer.
