The Urban Gateways Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Eric Delli Bovi as the organization’s next Executive Director beginning February 13, 2012.

The decision was reached after a six-month process involving a nationwide search. Mr. Delli Bovi will be introduced to the greater Urban Gateways community of supporters at the annual Gala on March 30, 2012.

Mr. Delli Bovi is an outstanding non-profit professional, musician and former teaching artist. He has served most recently as the Director of External Affairs at the Old Town School of Folk Music, where he led the capital campaign for Old Town’s newly opened arts education facility and oversaw unprecedented growth in fundraising to support a wide array of education and performance initiatives. Mr. Delli Bovi has worked for Old Town School of Folk Music for the past decade in positions of Interim Executive Director, Director of Development and Director of Education Outreach.

“Eric’s energy and passion for the arts, knowledge and experience in the realm of arts education, and solid leadership and management skills are just what Urban Gateways needs to continue to grow and increase our outreach to the tens of thousands of Chicago-area children we serve each year.” said Patrick J. Condon, Urban Gateways Board President.

Urban Gateways is one of the largest and most comprehensive arts education organizations in the country and a recipient of the White House’s “Medal of Arts.” For more than 50 years, Urban Gateways has been dedicated to access and equity in bringing the arts into the lives of millions of children in Chicago. The organization fulfills its mission – to ignite the creative potential of all young people – by providing high-quality, customized programming before, during and after school to more than 80,000 Chicago-area youth each year in the areas of literary, media, performing and visual arts.

“I am delighted to join Urban Gateways, an organization that I have always admired and supported for the outstanding programs they have in communities across the city and the thousands of young people they help teach and inspire. Also, it will be a joy to join the staff as they are planning this year’s March 30, 2012 Gala, and I look forward to connecting with old and new friends in the coming weeks,” said Mr. Delli Bovi.

Mr. Delli Bovi holds an M.A from DePaul University with a focus in directing and developing community arts education organizations, and a B.A. from Ithaca College in Social Studies/Secondary Education. He lives in Logan Square with his wife and their three children who all attend Chicago Public Schools.
