Through its visual arts program subsidiary Art Resources in Teaching (A.R.T.), Urban Gateways will offer a $10,000 Julie Reynolds Shaw Memorial Artist Commission to one visual artist from the Urban Gateways artist roster. Artists must submit their proposals by November 29; one artist (or team of artists) will be selected to create an original community artwork that reflects the mission of Urban Gateways. The Commission aims to create lasting benefits and encourage discussion in the community where the artwork is implemented, and to give Urban Gateways artists an opportunity to develop their professional portfolios.
