On Wednesday, February 24, the Chicago Citizen Newspaper featured Urban Gateways’ ART & Storytelling event on the cover of their South End issue. You’ll see natural hair artist Mo G on the cover, and musician and Urban Gateways Teaching Artist Zahra Baker on page 2; they both participated in ART & Storytelling on February 10, a virtual panel in which artists discussed how they build narratives in creative bodies of work. In Chicago Citizen as well as during the event, Mo G and Zahra spoke to the connections between storytelling, art, and Black life.
ART & Storytelling is part of Urban Gateways’ ART & Speaker Series, a sequence of six virtual conversations throughout 2021 that invite our community members to explore connections between the arts and a variety of timely topics. ART & is part of our 60th Anniversary celebration; learn more about the series here, and watch the recording of ART & Storytelling right here.
