Urban Gateways has recently merged with Art Resources in Teaching (A.R.T.) and on Friday, March 21st, 2014, we will celebrate joining forces and our combined 171-year commitment to providing arts education access and equity for Chicago’s youth at our annual benefit – the ART for ALL Gala. Four hundred (400) of Chicago’s most prominent business and civic leaders will commemorate this partnership and another successful year of supplying children with arts programming at the prestigious Modern Wing of the Art Institute of Chicago. The night will feature a cocktail reception, fabulous food, engaging performances by Urban Gateways’ talented artists, and a live auction. All proceeds benefit Urban Gateways’ touring and teaching artist programs in Chicago schools.
Incredible live performances include jazz music by Second Hand Three; spoken word by Writers Never Die (including former Urban Gateways students); contemporary dance by Chicago Dance Crash; Mexican folkloric dance by Urban Gateways students at Greeley Elementary; and Wonderland, a short documentary by summer Art Options apprentice Christopher McGill.
Urban Gateways delivers high-quality, accessible arts experiences that advance students’ personal and academic growth. Professional artists engage Chicago’s youth in arts activities that build essential skills like creativity, collaboration and innovation, and improve their self-esteem and confidence necessary to succeed in life.
