Art for All Gala Raises Almost $250K for Arts Ed

On Friday, March 30, 2012, nearly 250 people including many Chicago business, art and city leaders celebrated at the Art for All Gala in support of Urban Gateways. Guests raised almost $250,000 for Urban Gateways arts education programming! The amazing, art-filled evening featured cocktails, dinner, one-of-a-kind live and silent auction prizes, and live performances that brought the audience to their feet. Read more about it in the Chicago Tribune, Crain’s Chicago Business, Chicagoist, and on Candid Candace’s blog. And check out photos here!

Mayor Rahm Emanuel served as the event’s Honorary Chair, and while he was unable to attend, he sent along a statement that applauded “Urban Gateways’ commitment to our youth” and commended the organization for helping students “excel inside the classroom and beyond.” Our thanks go out to Mayor Emanuel for his support.

Urban Gateways would like to thank our gala co-chairs Eric McKissack & Cheryl Mayberry McKissack and Nick & Susan Pritzker, our Board of Directors and staff for making it such a memorable and successful evening. And a special thanks to all of our sponsors: BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois, AonHewitt, Deloitte, Exelon, JP MorganChase, Accenture, Blick Art Materials, Channing Capital Management, Columbia College Chicago, Kahn Creative Partners, KPMG, LipmanHearne, Natoma Partners, Sidley Austin LLP, and William Blair & Company.

Want to see what the evening was all about? Incredible live performances at the Art for All Gala by Elements Contemporary Ballet, poets from Young Chicago Authors’ Louder Than a Bomb, and the FootworKINGz:

And read interviews with our performers! We talked with UG teaching artist Mike Riendeau of The Second Hand Three jazz trio (who performed during the cocktail hour), Artistic Director Mike Gosney of Elements Contemporary Ballet, and Leida “Lady Sol” Villegas, manager of FootworKINGz.
