Night Out in the Parks: Cha Cha Cha – Latin American Dances

July 12, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Welles Park

Journey through Central and South America, Mexico, and the Caribbean in this exciting, participatory, and educational event combining Latin American music and dance. Create Latin rhythms on a selection of instruments while longtime Urban Gateways performer Nelson Sosa leads on guitar, then switch it up and learn basic steps of the Cumbia, Merengue, Cha Cha Cha, Bachata, and Polka with his daughter Paola. This lively duo will immerse you in a multicultural experience and get you up on your feet, providing you with cultural information and dance steps you can take home and show off to your friends. They will perform two 45-minute sets.

This FREE show is presented in partnership with the Chicago Park District as part of its Night Out in the Parks program. All Night Out in the Parks performances are family-friendly, free, open to the public, and will take place outdoors (weather permitting).
