Vibrant and innovative, DanceWorks Chicago is proud to share a diverse repertoire featuring who is new and what is next in contemporary dance as well as showcase exciting work from established choreographers. Under the inspired leadership of Artistic Director Julie Nakagawa and CEO Andreas Böttcher, an exceptional family of six dancers brings integrity, passion, and excellence to performances. DWC is dedicated to creating an environment conducive to nurturing experiences of significance for everyone from artist to audience.

DanceWorks Chicago is always moving, and, like a quality restaurant, searches for and uses the best ingredients available, rotating the menu each season. Our offerings range from locally-sourced choreographers mixed in with dancemakers from across the world. DanceWorks Chicago has conducted master classes, residencies, meet the artist conversations, and programs for all ages and experience levels to enthusiastic audiences.

“I got a strong jolt of engaging creativity that took me by surprise and made me want more.” – Richard Christiansen, Former Chief Critic, Chicago Tribune

For DanceWorks to come in made us visualize dance at a professional level, and that not only do you have to be a wonderful dancer on the outside, but a wonderful person on the inside as well. Personality makes a dancer different, and everyone in DanceWorks is different in their own way. They also show the importance of being yourself and letting it shine inside and out. Thanks for the wonderful opportunity.

The assembly was received with enthusiasm by a wide variety of students and faculty due to the variety in the musical selections within the performance. The Athletic Director was wowed by the athleticism and beauty of the music and movement even though he confessed that this was totally out of his realm of experience. It was a big "thumbs up"! Thanks for bringing such amazing artists into our schools.
