Urban Gateways hires Chicago’s most talented professional artists in music, dance, theater, literary arts, visual arts, and digital media.

What do Teaching Artists do?

• Develop and execute engaging curricula that fits all types of learners, from Pre-K to adults.

• Lead instruction and work in collaboration with site partners to impact participants.

• Commit to the personal and academic growth of youth.

• Allow participants to explore their interests and gain new perspectives.

Where do our Teaching Artists work?

• Residencies are held in Chicago Public Schools, Community Centers, Libraries, Chicago Park Districts, Charter and Private Schools, and other organizations.

What do touring artists do?

• Our Touring Artists perform interactive and educational dance, music, and theater shows.

• Urban Gateways offers bilingual programming in Spanish as well as other languages dependent on artist availability.

Where do our Touring Artists work?

• Performances are held in Chicago Public Schools, Community Centers, Libraries, Chicago Park Districts, Charter and Private Schools, and other organizations.

Why become an Urban Gateways Teaching/Touring Artist?

• We have a CPS vendor license (hard for individuals to obtain).

• We already have trusted relationships with Established Partners.

• Teaching and Touring Artists join a community of artists and receive professional development opportunities.
