On Sunday, October 14th, Urban Gateways and the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) will host the Teen Arts Leadership Summit. As part of the City of Chicago’s Year of Creative Youth (YOCY), the Summit is a one-day event celebrating the role that young people play in the leadership of Chicago arts organizations. This summit will provide a chance for teens to come together to exchange ideas, share experiences, and explore creativity, all with an arts focus.

Chicago Cultural Center

Teens: Attend the Summit!

Are you a Chicago-area teen who is either a member of a teen or youth leadership council at a Chicago-area arts organization or interested in arts and leadership? Join teens engaged in arts organizations and programs across Chicago for an exciting day celebrating creativity and leadership. It’s free, light breakfast and lunch are provided, plus you’ll get some cool giveaways. Teen registration is OPEN!

Teens can also submit to show work in our teen visual arts gallery, and teens attending the Summit can sign up for an open mic to close out the day.

Sessions

Teen council members ages 13-19 from Chicago-area arts institutions are invited to share their expertise with fellow young arts leaders at the Teen Arts Leadership Summit. Session proposals from teens outside of arts leadership councils, young alumni of teen leadership programs, or adult administrators with particular expertise may also be considered. All proposals should be diverse and engaging with an emphasis on arts and/or leadership.

Session proposals are now closed and are being reviewed by our staff and the Year of Creative Youth Teen Advisory Council. We will be in touch with all applicants soon!
