TEEN EVENT: Writers’ Open Mic

The Urban Gateways Teen Council, Steppenwolf Theatre and their Young Adult Council, and Teen Arts Pass invite teens to a Writers’ Open Mic on Saturday, April 9th!
April 9, 12-3pm – plus stick around for the show at 3pm!
@ The Loft at Steppenwolf Theatre, 1650 N Halsted, Chicago
The Writers’ Open Mic is a FREE one-day, open mic and creative writing event in-person at Steppenwolf Theatre’s LOFT for teen writers of all genres and experience levels. Whether you’ve got a piece ready to share, you’re just curious, or anything in between, you are invited to join and celebrate the power of the written word.
The event begins at noon with walkup activity stations and opportunities to get feedback on your written work. Open mic sign-ups open at 12:30pm, and the Open Mic itself begins at 1pm. There will be music and snacks to keep the momentum going throughout the day.
To close the event, teens are invited to stick around to attend the 3pm matinee performance of King James! Just be sure to bring your TAP ID and $5 for the ticket. Not a TAP member yet? Anyone 13-19 can sign up (free!) here >>
