Urban Gateways has programming available virtually, to connect with students, educators, and families while at home. While we are continuing to develop these offerings, we are currently offering the following types of programs:


Virtual Arts Learning

Live Virtual or Pre-Recorded 
Artist-led direct instruction led by an Urban Gateways Teaching Artist in dance, music, theater, visual arts, or new media.

Length:

  • 15-45 minute sessions
  • One-time (workshop) or recurring lessons that build upon one another (residency)

Formats:

  • Live using Zoom
  • Pre-recorded video lessons
  • Live integration into existing virtual learning platforms

Educational, arts-based performances by professional artists or ensembles in dance, music, or theater; a virtual version of Touring Performances.

Professional Development for Educators

Live Virtual
Workshops (live virtual or pre-recorded) with an arts-focused curriculum designed and led by a Teaching Artist. The theme or focus can be customized to support the school and educator goals and will be rooted in dance, music, new media, theater, and/or visual arts.

Length:

  • 1-3 hour sessions
  • 1-4 sessions total

  • Live integration into existing virtual learning platforms

STREET LEVEL
  • Weekly performances on Instagram Live, Wednesdays at 4pm Central. Featuring the talents of Street Level participants, alumni, and faculty. Just follow Street Level on Instagram (@streetlevelchicago), tune in, and enjoy!
TEEN ARTS PASS
  • Our TAP at Home web page shares ways that teens (and others) can engage with our arts partners through streaming and archived videos, workshops, podcasts, etc.
  • TAPtalks: A series of interviews with artists to talk about their paths to creative careers, specifically for a teen audience; Tuesdays and Thursdays, live on Instagram (@teenartspass) at 3pm Central and available afterwards on YouTube!
TEEN ARTS LEADERSHIP SUMMIT

In partnership with the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE), Urban Gateways and Teen Arts Pass will host a Virtual Teen Arts Leadership Summit on Saturday, June 27. It’s free for any teen to register; this Zoom event will feature a keynote speaker, a virtual live performance, and interactive workshop options so that creative teens can come together to explore leadership and the arts. Registration opens June 1; we are also accepting Session & Performance proposals, as well as submissions to the TALS Poster Design Competition. Learn more here >>
