SUMMARY:TAP Into the Arts
DESCRIPTION:Marking One Year of Teen Arts Pass\n\n \nWe’re inviting arts partners\, funders\, media\, and friends of TAP to join us at Harold Washington Library Center on May 23 for a presentation and panel discussion marking the first year of Teen Arts Pass. Following a presentation by Urban Gateways\, Tracie D. Hall of The Joyce Foundation will moderate a panel featuring TAP Teen Council members to learn more about how the city’s arts and culture sector can more effectively engage young audiences. \nTeen Arts Pass (TAP)  enables anyone age 13-19 to purchase a day-of-show tickets at any of our 26 arts partners for only $5. TAP creates opportunities for young people to participate in arts experiences across the city\, encouraging teens to pursue their artistic interests and broaden their worldviews by welcoming them into Chicago’s arts and culture institutions. TAP Into the Arts is an opportunity for partners and stakeholders to hear teen perspectives on this growing program. \nRSVP >>\n \nPhoto by Sehar Sufi \nCheck out our press release to read more >>

SUMMARY:#GivingTuesday 2018: Support a Creative Chicago
DESCRIPTION:This Giving Tuesday\, help young Chicagoans create art and inspire change.\nIt’s been a busy year at Urban Gateways. We launched Teen Arts Pass\, a citywide initiative giving teens access to $5 tickets at revered Chicago venues; we hosted a cohort of Street Level interns who learned new media arts skills\, empowering them to be active participants in the creation of our contemporary culture; we worked with groups of young people from schools and communities all over Chicago\, introducing them to new creative avenues and encouraging them to create art and inspire change wherever they go in life. \nUrban Gateways programs guide young people in using the arts as a mode of communication\, advocacy\, and innovation. They take that inspiration and use it to change their communities and their world for the better. We know the importance of this work and if you’re here\, chances are you do too – which is why we’re asking for your support this Giving Tuesday. Help us raise $3\,000 in one day so that we can provide more young people in Chicago with opportunities to engage in the arts. \nAfter the holiday shopping spree of Black Friday\, Small Business Saturday\, and Cyber Monday\, use Giving Tuesday to take a step back and make a gift of any amount to your broader community. We hope you’ll support Urban Gateways! \nDonate on 11/27 and help young people use the arts to build a braver world. >>\n \n \nWe participate in #ILGive\, the Illinois-specific Giving Tuesday initiative. Live here\, give here! \n \n
