Street-Level is our youth multimedia center located at 1637 North Ashland Avenue, where young people can participate in video and audio production classes, join clubs, and find a welcoming environment through our Open Lab. Street-Level’s mission is to educate Chicago youth in media arts and emerging technologies for use in self-expression, communication, and social change. Explore the Street-Level website for details about programs, history, and more.

Street-Level’s programs build critical thinking skills in youth who have been historically neglected by policy-makers and mass media. Using video and audio production, digital arts, and the internet, Street-Level’s young people address community issues, access advanced communication technology, and gain inclusion in our information-based society. Street-Level Youth Media joined Urban Gateways in January 2017; you can learn more about the acquisition and its goals here.

We’re hosting an Open House on Saturday, February 3 – and all are welcome! Get details here.

The next class session (for audio, film, & more) starts February 13, 2018. Find details about all of our programs at street-level.org. Stop by Monday through Friday, 2-7pm or call 773-862-5331 to get involved!
