Street-Level is our youth multimedia center located at 1637 North Ashland Avenue, where young people can participate in video and audio production classes, join clubs, find a welcoming environment through our Open Lab, and more. Street-Level’s mission is to educate Chicago youth in media arts and emerging technologies for use in self-expression, communication, and social change. Explore the Street-Level website for details about programs, history, and more.

Street-Level’s programs build critical thinking skills in youth who have been historically neglected by policy-makers and mass media. Using video and audio production, digital arts, and the internet, Street-Level’s young people address community issues, access advanced communication technology, and gain inclusion in our information-based society. Street-Level Youth Media joined Urban Gateways in January 2017; you can learn more about the acquisition and its goals here.

Clubs are youth-driven groups that focus on your interests. Choose a club like The Anime Club to research and talk about what’s new in Anime, take field trips, and host cool events. We also have a computer and gaming club, LGBTQ club, blogger’s editor club, and a music business club. Clubs meet once a week. Get involved at Street-Level.
