Shakespeare: Scenes, Sonnets, and Songs

Performance Type:

Shakespeare is boring! (That's the myth, anyway.) With this eye-opening, educational, and comedic romp, an ensemble of actors from Oak Park Festival Theatre takes four famous misconceptions about William Shakespeare (He's boring! He isn't funny! You can't understand him! He isn't romantic!) and in the space of 40 minutes the actors show just how exciting, hilarious and moving the works of the Bard of Avon can be. Scenes include a swordfight from "Romeo and Juliet," a case of mistaken identity from "The Comedy of Errors," a bout of one-upmanship from "Taming of the Shrew," and a love scene that utilizes only the words from Shakespeare's sonnets. Students (and teachers) will never look at Shakespeare the same way again.
