Artist Bio

The worlds of cartoons often mimic the “real” world, but not it seems the “real” world mimics these worlds of myth, dripping with saturated color and yearning fro escape. Central to Fotos’ painting practice are slips of the imaginary into the “real”. He is interested in moments where an inner world breaks  out into the physical world. Fotos specifically deal with the language of cartoons and video games and then those languages break down, allowing the signs to become objects with unfixed identities or space, slipping into new worlds of pleasure that wait to spill out and absorb the so- called “real”.
